We keep the things your business runs on running.
Servers, networks, laptops, email, backups and security — in your building and in the cloud. Built properly, then watched every day by people in Alberta. And when the software itself is the problem, we have developers who can fix that too.
How this actually works.
We take it over.
Servers, network, laptops, email, backups, security, and the cloud services underneath all of it. One team owns the whole thing, so there is nobody to point at when something breaks.
You only pay for the hours you use.
Your contract is sized to the hours your business actually needs, and that sets your monthly base. A heavy month can run over — billed at the same rate you already agreed, never a premium. A light month comes back to you as credit the next month. We do not keep what you did not use.
You call a person.
Not a ticket portal, not a queue, and not a call centre three time zones away that has never seen your network.
Nobody shops for an IT company when things are going well.
It is almost always one of three reasons. If you recognize one of them, you are in the right place.
“Nobody actually owns this.”
IT lives with whoever on staff is best with computers. It is not their job, they have never been trained for it, and every hour on it is an hour off the work you hired them for. Meanwhile nobody can tell you whether the backups ran last night.
“We pay for IT, but I can’t tell you what we get.”
There is an invoice every month and a number that goes somewhere far away. Response times drift. Small problems go unfixed because they are not worth the phone call — and small problems are most of them.
“Something happened and it scared us.”
A ransomware note, an email that fooled someone in accounting, a server that went down Friday and came back Monday. You got through it. You are not confident you would get through the next one.
All three are the same problem. Nobody is watching your systems on purpose.
Seven things stop being your problem.
In plain language first, with the technical detail underneath for whoever on your team wants to see it.
Someone is watching, all the time.
Round-the-clock monitoring, patching, and maintenance across every server, desktop, and laptop.
Your data survives a bad day.
Backup and disaster recovery for workstations, servers, and Microsoft 365, with offsite retention from one year to indefinite.
The obvious attacks don’t land.
Managed antivirus, ransomware detection, firewall configuration, email impersonation and spam filtering, and vulnerability scanning — documented to the standard your insurer asks for at renewal.
You stop buying hardware you don’t need.
We hold the vendor relationships and coordinate the purchase, but you buy direct at vendor pricing and we take no margin on it. We have no reason to sell you a server — which is usually why you do not need one.
Your cloud bill makes sense.
Full Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 reseller — discounted rates, same-day license changes, and migration to cloud or hybrid.
The Wi-Fi works in the shop.
On-site network design, switching, cabling coordination, and access points in buildings that fight radio signals.
You call, and a person answers.
A dedicated Client Relationship Specialist and an Alberta-based team. No offshore call centre.
What “watching” actually means
Nine recurring reviews run against your environment, each scheduled to a frequency we agree with you — daily, weekly or monthly — based on what your business needs and what your industry requires you to prove. Across our clients that comes to more than 12,000 scheduled checks a year.
- Backup checks — cloud, Microsoft 365 and database logs
- Data recovery testing — restores actually attempted, not assumed
- Server security patching — run outside your business hours
- Vulnerability scans and review
- Endpoint protection review
- Email security and spam review
- Sign-in log review — failed logins and access from outside the country
- Network health review
- Hardware lifecycle reporting
You can see the schedule, and you can change it. Every review has a frequency and a time cost attached, and we show you both. If you need to bring your monthly spend down, this is the first place we look together — rather than quietly doing less and not mentioning it.
This list is also most of your insurance questionnaire. Backup testing, patching cadence, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning, sign-in monitoring — those are the questions your insurer asks at renewal. Because the work runs all year, the answers are already true and already documented.
Your servers belong in the cloud. Your building still doesn’t.
We move compute to the cloud. The days of buying an expensive box for the closet and replacing it every five years are over, and we will not sell you one.
But plenty of your infrastructure serves people standing in a building, and that part does not migrate. The Wi-Fi in a shop with metal walls and forty feet of ceiling. The switch in the mechanical room nobody has looked at since it was installed. The machine on the floor running software older than some of your staff, which cannot be moved and cannot be replaced this year.
None of that gets solved by somebody logging in from another province. Over half the hands-on work we do is done standing in our clients’ buildings.
Two names, not a ticket queue.
When something is wrong, I am your first call. I am a real person in Alberta, I already know what your setup looks like, and you will not have to explain your business to me again. If I cannot fix it myself, I know exactly who can, and I stay on it until it is closed.
I have built and run IT for organizations from twelve people to a few thousand. My job is to make your systems boring — to do the same thing on Monday they did on Friday, and to have already dealt with the thing that would have taken you down.
Most IT companies can tell you the software won’t do that. We can make it do that.
When your line-of-business system will not talk to your accounting system, the usual answer is a ticket with the vendor and a wait. We have developers on staff — the same team that built and runs software used by tens of thousands of people across North America. So “that is not possible” becomes a scoped quote instead of a dead end.
You do not pay for that team on retainer. It is there when you need it, and most clients never do. The ones who do stop needing a second vendor.
A client was rekeying 400 invoices a month by hand between two systems that had no integration between them. We wrote the connector.
That work is now zero hours.
Routine checks, licence reconciliation and account housekeeping used to take a technician’s morning across every client we have. Our developers replaced the lot with tooling that runs on its own.
Nearly 11,000 tasks handled without a person last year.
Nearly a third of the IT work we deliver is now done by tools our own developers built — work that used to need a person.
Measured across all managed IT work in the twelve months to July 2026. It was 7% in 2022.
BKY delivers amazing results for our affiliates every time! Their innovative platform is helping workers sign on to union representation in a more user-friendly environment than ever before. We are proud to call BKY our partner, and we look forward to collaborating with them on our next project!
How much IT you need depends on what you’ve already got.
Three situations, three different jobs, and one standard of care for every Alberta business without exception.
“Nobody owns IT here.”
We become your IT department. The whole thing: Microsoft 365 and email, laptops and desktops, network and Wi-Fi, firewall, antivirus, backups, hardware purchasing. One monthly cost, one number to call, and the person on staff who has been doing this on the side gets their real job back.
Month one Every device inventoried, backups verified, firewall reviewed, and one written plan for what needs replacing and when.
“One person owns IT, and they’re underwater.”
We take the queue so they can keep the strategy. Day-to-day tickets, patching, monitoring, backup verification, and after-hours coverage move to us. Your internal person stops being the help desk and starts doing the projects you hired them for — on a standardized environment instead of fifteen years of accumulated one-offs.
Month one Standardized builds, a documented environment, and a support load your internal team no longer carries alone.
“We have an IT team and a specific gap.”
We take a lane. Co-managed work where we own the piece your team does not have the bandwidth or the specialty for — cloud migration and Azure cost control, backup and disaster recovery, after-hours and holiday coverage, on-site work at remote locations, or the internal software your developers have been meaning to build for two years.
Month one A scoped lane, a named owner on our side, and clear escalation between our team and yours.
Managed IT has a geography. Being your help desk means being reachable, being on-site when it matters, and knowing your building. So we do not take on managed IT for an organization running day-to-day operations across three continents — and we will tell you that on the first call rather than in the third month.
Software has no geography. Our development team already builds for large enterprise and multinational organizations, and code ships wherever you are. If you are a global organization looking for a development partner rather than a help desk, that is a different conversation — and one we would like to have.
Talk to the software team →The hardest part of changing IT companies isn’t technical. It’s the phone call.
Most businesses stay with someone they have outgrown because leaving looks expensive, disruptive, and awkward. Here is how we take all three off the table.
We look before we quote.
A full assessment of what you have, including a security review, so the plan is built on reality rather than on what got described over the phone.
We make the awkward call.
We coordinate the handover with your current provider directly, and we know exactly what to ask them for. You do not have to manage that relationship on your way out the door.
Nothing happens without warning.
A dedicated Project Manager tells you what is changing before it changes. Anything that would interrupt your day — server patching and reboots included — is scheduled outside your business hours. You are never the last to find out that something moved.
We absorb the cost.
Onboarding a new client takes us around forty hours. We credit up to $5,000 of that against your first invoices — which is most of it. The price of leaving stops being the reason you stay.
Four questions worth asking today, even if you never call us
Changing providers is rarely hard for technical reasons. It is hard because of what the outgoing provider is holding, and most businesses do not find out what that is until they try to leave.
- Do you own your Azure tenant? Or was it created under your provider’s account? If it is theirs, your identity, your email and everyone’s access all sit inside something you do not control.
- Whose name is on your domain? This is the one that ends businesses. If your provider registered it and a renewal quietly lapses, your email and your website stop — and a domain someone else let go is not always recoverable.
- Where are your Microsoft licences held? Licences bought through your provider’s agreement do not automatically come with you. Moving them needs the cooperation of the company you are leaving.
- Can you list every subscription you pay for? Most businesses cannot produce that list on request. It is also where the quiet overspending tends to live — seats for people who left, services nobody uses.
If you cannot answer all four, you are in ordinary company. That is the actual reason switching feels risky, and it is the part we take off you — we ask these questions on your behalf, in writing, before anything moves.
Our goal is simple — make switching to BKY easier than staying where you are.
We already know the software you run your day on.
Your accounting package, your payroll system, your HR platform, and the line-of-business software your whole operation depends on. Being useful when those break is part of the job — not just the network underneath them.
Twenty-seven years is most of the proof. Here’s the rest.
We have been working with the team at BKY for over a year and their service has been exceptional from day one. The team is knowledgeable, responsive, and always goes above and beyond to keep our systems running smoothly. They’re proactive in spotting issues before they become problems and quick to respond whenever we need support. They helped us transition to SharePoint with ease and we can sleep at night now knowing our data is safe and secure.
What really stands out is how approachable and professional their staff are — they explain things clearly without the tech jargon and genuinely care about our business. Thanks to BKY, our IT operations are more reliable than ever. Highly recommend them to any organization looking for dependable and friendly IT support!
BKY’s team has been very responsive and efficient with all of my IT needs. The client service is excellent. They were always patient and helpful when we were setting up SharePoint for the company or other projects. They are also quick to respond and resolve issues in the day to day operations.
The team at BKY are amazing, they take the time to get to know their clients’ needs and work with them to provide the best support. I would highly recommend them to any business looking for managed IT services.
Everything that’s covered.

The questions we actually get asked.
What does this cost?
We price on hours, not per seat. We look at what your environment actually needs — how many servers and users, which of the nine scheduled reviews apply to you, how often they have to run, and what your insurer or your industry requires you to demonstrate — then set a monthly contract to that number of hours.
The hourly rate is on a sliding scale: the more hours you contract, the less each one costs. A substantial monthly contract lands roughly a third below what the same work costs on an ad-hoc basis with no contract at all. That gap is deliberate. We would rather you had enough contracted hours to stop things breaking than buy our time in emergencies — and it is why our clients need less support in their second year than their first, not more.
Your contracted hours at your rate set the monthly base, and that base is agreed up front. A heavy month can run over, billed at the same rate — never a premium for going over. A light month comes back as credit the following month. And if you are consistently over or under for three months running, we come to you and resize the contract rather than letting it drift.
We will not put a rate in front of you before the assessment, because the rate depends on the hours and the hours depend on what you actually have. Anyone who quotes you a number before looking at your systems is guessing, and it will change once they have looked.
What are we paying for when nothing is broken?
Nine recurring reviews run against your environment, adding up to more than 12,000 scheduled checks a year across our clients. Some are concrete enough to describe: we look at failed logins and attempts to reach your accounts from outside the country, we verify cloud and Microsoft 365 backups rather than assuming them, and we actually attempt restores instead of trusting the backup log. Server patching runs outside your business hours. Each review has a frequency and a time cost you can see, and that work is why almost half the issues we resolve are ones you never had to report.
Can you help with our cyber insurance questionnaire?
Yes, and we complete the technical sections ourselves. Those forms get longer and more specific every year — multi-factor authentication coverage, patching cadence, backup testing, endpoint detection, privileged account controls — and they are written for whoever administers the systems, not for the person whose name is on the policy.
The more useful part is that the answers are already true. Most of what an insurer asks about is on our scheduled review list, running all year. When the renewal form arrives you are documenting what has been happening, not scrambling to become compliant in the three weeks before your policy lapses.
Are there extra charges we should know about?
No travel charges anywhere in the greater Edmonton and Calgary areas, and no incidentals — we do not bill you for parking. Travel is charged only for sites outside those areas, and you will know before we go. We take no margin on hardware; you buy direct at vendor pricing. And if you do not use the hours you have paid for in a month, they come back to you as credit the next month. Being nickel-and-dimed is one of the most common complaints we hear about previous providers, so we have removed the places it usually happens.
What does onboarding actually involve?
Around forty hours of our time before you are properly running. We inventory every device, verify your backups, review your firewall, document the environment, and give you one written plan covering what needs replacing and when. A dedicated Project Manager runs it and tells you what is changing before it changes. We credit up to $5,000 of that work — which is most of what it costs us.
What happens with our current IT company?
We contact them and manage the handover ourselves. We request the documentation, licenses, and access we need, coordinate timing so nothing goes dark, and keep you out of the middle of it. You do not have to have that conversation.
How long does switching take?
We usually start within a week of you first getting in touch, and the transition itself takes about forty hours of our time. That is the whole job — assessment, documentation, handover from your current provider, and getting our monitoring and backups running. You are not waiting a quarter to be onboarded.
Do we have to replace our hardware?
Usually less than you think. We assess what you have first and tell you what is fine, what needs watching, and what is genuinely at risk — and most server workloads move to the cloud rather than getting replaced. Where hardware is needed, we coordinate the purchase through our vendor relationships, you pay the vendor directly, and we take no margin on it.
Is your support offshore?
No. Every person who touches your systems works in Alberta. Support runs locally, and your Client Relationship Specialist is a named person you can reach directly rather than a queue you get routed through.
Do you actually come to our site, or is it all remote?
We come to your site, and it is not a token amount — over half our hands-on hours are worked standing in client buildings, across 725 visits in the last twelve months. Plenty is done remotely because that is faster for you, but network installations, cabling, access points and anything involving equipment on a shop or plant floor happen in person. We service Edmonton, Calgary and locations across Alberta. Travel is never charged inside the greater metropolitan areas.
What if we already have IT staff?
That is a co-managed arrangement and it is common. We take a defined lane — often after-hours coverage, backup and disaster recovery, cloud cost management, or on-site work at remote locations — and your team keeps everything else. You get a named owner on our side and clear escalation in both directions.
Book thirty minutes. Bring your worst IT story.
No assessment fee and no pressure. If we are not the right fit we will say so on the call. If we are, switching is on us up to $5,000. No travel charge for the visit either, if you are in the greater Edmonton or Calgary area.
